Beauty Tip of The Week


There is nothing better than the way your skin feels after a good facial, but who has time these days or the money to go to a beautician regularly and indulge in this little luxury.With this in mind I thought I would do some research into facials and beauty treatments that you can do at home using ingredients that can be found right in your kitchen.These DIY beauty treatments, facials and scrubs would be a great way to spend some bonding time with your daughter and each of you will have beautiful glowing skin to show for it.

Winter Facial

Everyone in the Northern Hemisphere is struggling through a bitterly cold Winter at the moment and the effects of that can definitely be felt in your skin and hair. Concentrating on the facial aspect this week, here is a facial recipe designed to combat the harshness of a chilly Winter.

Facial Ingredients


1 tablespoon of Honey
1 Egg Yolk










Honey has antibacterial properties and egg yolks are full of B, A and Zinc Vitamins
  • Combine honey and egg yolk and whisk together
  • Apply to your face and neck
  • Allow to set for 10-15 minutes
  • Wash off with warm water

Easy DIY Facial Scrub

A way to use your everyday facial cleanser as a facial scrub also

Facial Scrub Ingredients


1/2 teaspoon Epsom Salts
Cleansing Cream









  • Mix 1/2 teaspoon of Epsom Salts into a portion of your everyday cleanser and massage into your face using a circular motion
  • Rinse with cool water.

Avocado Facial Mask

Avocado Facial Mask Ingredients


2 Avocados
3 Tablespoons sea salt
1/4 cup of honey
Grated rind of two lemons, use the juice too
1/4 cup coconut oil











  • Mix all ingredients until smooth
  • Apply to skin an leave on for 10-15 miunutes
  • Rinse off with warm water

Egg Whites Facial Mask

Clears red spots and firms up your skin

Egg Whites Facial Mask Ingredients


2 Eggs

  • Separate the yolks from the egg whites
  • Beat the egg whites until they form soft peaks
  • Apply to your face and leave for 20 minutes
  • Wash off with warm water

Brown Sugar and Sea Salt Facial Scrub With Essential Oils


To open up and clean clogged pores and to aid in relaxation.

Brown Sugar Facial Scrub Ingredients


1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sea salt
2tbsp olive oil1tbsp honey
2tbsp fresh squeezed orange juice
1tbsp of lavender (or the essential oil of your choice)

  • Mix all ingredients together to form a paste
  • Apply to damp skin and rub in using a circular motion
  • Rinse off with warm water

Coffee Facial Scrub

For invigorating the skin


Ingredients for Coffee Facial Scrub


3tblsp of coffee grounds
1tblsp of salt










  • Make up a fresh pot of coffee
  • Mix together the coffee grounds and the salt
  • Rub onto the skin
  • NB Make sure you use the mixture within 20 minutes of brewing the coffee.
