One Direction “On The Road Again” Sydney
If you have girls, you undoubtably know who One Direction are (unless you have been living under a rock).
You more than likely know all about Harry, Louis, Niall, Zayne and Liam…whether you want to or not.
My older girls have had the opportunity of seeing them perform a few times now. But this year it was time for Miss T to get her introduction to the bewildering spectacle that is a One Direction Sydney Concert.
Before we left I said to her, “the girls that go to these concerts are ….. unique”…
She asked me what I meant by that?
And I simply said “you’ll see”…..
I warned her that it was going to be loud..and I wasn’t talking about the music….
So on a balmy summer Sydney night, we made the trek into the city to see the worlds most popular boy band kick off their world tour.
Sydney was lucky to be first cab off the rank, the very first concert, so expectations were pretty high.
We arrived at the stadium quite early, with plenty of time to spare and it just so happened we arrived at the same time as the boys.
Making our way to our gate we happened across multitudes of teen girls lining the street…Wondering what was gong on we decided to hang around for a bit.
Miss T brought my attention to screaming coming from up the road…then the screaming got louder…and louder…and louder……Culminating to ear deafening status when Louis drove past in his blacked out, black mini van!!!
Miss T looked up at her big sister who was there along with 50 other girls all jumping up and down screaming out Louis name…she was seeing her sister for the very first time in a very different light…
I nodded at her and said “see”!!!
Louis arrives………..Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! (apologies for the screaming)
The next thing we witnessed was one die hard fan whipping out a gigantic pair of scissors and proceeding to hack into the black mesh that was put up to obscure the view from the fence line. I carefully manoeuvred Miss M who was also climbing the fence out of the firing line from the maniac with the scissors and carefully and slowly backed away…
I guess she came prepared.. I bet she didn’t get them past the security checkpoint though.
So after all this and another celebrity sighting as Richard Wilkins and his very cool hair walked past us, we finally managed to find our seats.
This was my first “inside” experience at a One Direction Sydney concert. Usually it is just a “drop off” for me and a wait, but with a 9 year old going this time, I also had to go too.
As the sun dipped down over Allianz Stadium, the anticipation grew.
Once it was dark, the stage lights came on accompanied by some pretty spectacular pyrotechnics , the music started and the boys came out to deafening screaming and that didn’t stop for 2 1/2 hours!
The screaming was deafening.. 50,000 teen girls all screaming at once, my ears will never be the same again.
Even though we had “nosebleed” seats, Miss T throughly enjoyed herself. She claimed “it was the best night ever”!! And has been thanking me profusely ever since.
Needless to say I have scored some pretty heavy duty brownie points, which I intend to capitalise on as much as possible in the near future.
