Celebrate #motherdaughtertime With Barbie
I wandered past my youngest girls room the other day, they share a room and so often there is so much noise emanating from that side of the house that I can’t even hear myself think.
When I walked past and heard nothing but silence, immediately I became concerned, as you do….
They had been tucked up in there…alone….for ages!
I silently peeked into the bedroom and discovered them quietly playing with their Barbies.
It’s amazing how this one toy has stood the test of time and remains just as popular today as it has been for past generations.
I am an only child, so as a little girl my Barbies were my best friends and my siblings. I created whole new worlds for them, I had large and extended families, sisters, brothers, parents even pets and with my Barbie collection I was never lonely.
Sometimes my mother would even pop in and play with me, these were special times and she got to relive her own childhood playing with my Barbies (yes Barbie has been around that long) I loved watching her get so animated and I truly relished spending that time together.
Today we still spend a lot of quality mother/daughter time together.
Our activities might have changed but the amount of time we spend together hasn’t, even as adults. We are looking forward to seeing Les Miserable’ together in a few weeks and we regularly have a movie or dinner date.
Mother daughter quality time is so important. Having the ability to get down on your daughters level and play with them is just as important as teaching them the lessons of life.
You are nurturing that very special relationship that you will take with you into the future.
There is something to be said for some good old fashioned role play.
The invention of electronic devices like Ipads and Ipods also means that many girls are substituting a real life doll for perhaps the electronic kind.
Sometimes I think we need to get back to basics. It is fascinating watching their imaginations run away with them into a fantasy land and it is amazing the little worlds their brains can create.
There is something soothing about creating a new and fantastic hairstyle with your daughters latest Barbie. There is also something satisfying brushing all those tangles out of their hair, so once again their beloved Barbie is in mint condition.
Having daughters is the perfect excuse to be able to re immerse yourself once again in the life of a child. Find once more that enjoyment playing with “Barbies” brought you. It truly is a Peter Pan experience.
With this in mind “Barbie” is encouraging mothers and daughters to think about the quality time they are spending together and how quality time can be incorporated into our everyday busy lives.
Find a unique way to interact and play with your daughters, whether that be in the home or perhaps at the park and outdoors.
Many girls love exploring their creative sides. Have a fashion show or home art exhibition.
Some girls including my own, love to show their very dramatic flair. Write and perform a play, perform a dance or perhaps play some music.
Your daughter maybe one of those adventurous kinds, who is unable to sit still for very long.
She may leave you frequently with your heart in your mouth, while she undertakes her latest death defying experience.
Where ever her interests lie, #motherdaughter time can be found anywhere.
Maybe playing with dolls isn’t your “thing”, but with a little bit of thought you can find that perfect way to spend some quality #motherdaughter time together and in the process strengthen and build your relationship with one another.
One that you will cherish and take with you into your daughters adult life.
To celebrate #motherdaughter time, I am giving away a fantastic Barbie Gift pack.
