This photo posted by Bindi Irwin on her Instagram account created a lot of controversy and opinionated comments.
However most people were very supportive of her glamorous makeover, but some media outlets chose to put a negative spin on the pictures.
Lets face it half the fun of being a teenage girl is that you get to experiment with clothes and makeup. It’s how they learn to find their own unique style and how to perfect their look and create an identity.
All teenage girls do it and all teenage girls post the end result on Instagram, however most teenage girls don’t have a world wide profile and 354k followers.
It wasn’t all that long ago that Bindi was announcing that teenage girls should cover up and dress more conservatively.
“I’m a big advocate for young girls dressing their age,” she said.
“I mean, for me, I look around at a lot of young girls that are my age and they’re always trying to dress older. Whether it’s wearing revealing clothes or hardly wearing any clothes at all, I feel really bad for them.
“It kind of has the opposite effect in some ways … it kind of does the opposite where it makes you look younger and like you’re trying too hard.”
As a result of this comment, some are calling this fabulous selfie hypocritical, but what we need to remember is that this comment of Bindi’s was made over a year ago.
She is now nearing her 17th birthday and in just one short year she will be an adult and in fact she is doing what every teen girl does.
A year in the life of a teenage girl is a huge amount of time, a lot can happen in their lives and they undergo many many changes, in such a short space of time.
In what may seem like a blimp on the radar for us, often seems like a whole lifetime to a teen girl.
The difference between a 16 year old and 17 year old girl is huge, physically and mentally. Not only does their physical appearance change, but also their opinions as they take notice of the world around them with greater interest. They start to offer up thoughts on everyday issues and actually offer an educated opinion on topics of the day.
A teenage girl is also notorious for changing her mind..over and over and over……..
I think we all need to look at this photo in context.
Here you have a beautiful young lady who is spreading her wings further into the world of womanhood. Experimenting just like any other teenage girl, I highly doubt she is sporting her new look in the “Crocoseum” as she feeds some gnarly crocs.
We are all entitled to our values and opinions, just as we are all entitled not to be judged for them.
We have watched Bindi grow up before our eyes and sometimes is hard to forget that brave little girl who spoke so eloquently at her Dad Steve’s funeral and realise that she is now all grown up.
How proud Steve would be of Bindi and I bet he would be threatening the Crocodile enclosure to any potential boyfriends.
It is time that we all realised that Bindi Irwin is now an absolutely stunning young lady, no longer that little girl in pigtails.
What do you think of Bindi’s new look?
